Spring 2 Newsletter

{item_alt_tag}

Hi,

Spring is my favourite time of the year. The days get longer, the sun comes out more often, warm clothes are put away (and then brought back out again!) and nature starts to come back to life after what felt like the wettest winter I have ever known. In school, this is also a favourite time of mine as children are over halfway through the year now and continue to impress me every day with the hard work that they put in every day. The children at Kingsley are a credit to what are, in my mind, two of the toughest, but most rewarding jobs in the world: parenting and teaching.

We are Kingsley!

Spelling Competition Winners

Congratulations to Michael Cocos, in Year 4, for winning the Emile Spelling competition. Unbelievably, he managed to spell more than 6000 words correctly! He was rewarded with a book and certificate and we are very proud of his achievement.

British Science Week

On March 12th, Atomic Tom visited Kingsley for British Science Week. All of our children watched his amazing assemblies and some classes got to take part in his amazing workshops. It was great to see Science brought to life and all the children excited by what was going on around the whole school.

Phonic Information Meetings

Thank you to everyone who attended our phonics information morning. As many of us didn't learn to read in this way, I think it's really important that we know how early reading is taught in our school so that we can support our children at home in the best possible way.

Year 4 Dental Workshops

The dental team from the University of Northampton visited every year group this week to teach them all about the best way to brush their teeth, what foods are good or bad for teeth and whether they should rinse their mouths after brushing.

They learnt a very catchy song to help them to remember what to do – ask them to sing it to you before bedtime tonight!

Sporting Events

As usual, our pupils have been busy attending a range of different sports events around our town. They went canoeing at the Whitewater centre at Northampton Active, Young Leader training at Northampton School for Girls (NSG) and multi-sports at Benham. Also, Young Leaders from NSG came to Kingsley to lead some sessions with our Year 3's.

Year 6 Residential

The children who went to Culmington Manor, in Shropshire, came back exhausted with huge smiles on their faces. They had a brilliant time experiencing a range of activities and spending time making memories they will have for the rest of their lives.

Parking

A polite reminder to drive slowly and carefully around our school and the surrounding streets during drop-off and pick-up times and to only park where it is safe to do so in the designated areas.
