Autumn 1 Newsletter

{item_alt_tag}

Hi,

Welcome to our first termly newsletter of the new academic year. From the very first day, all pupils and staff have come back eager to start the year in the most positive and impressive way. I hope you enjoy reading about some of the changes that have happened at school recently and see how we are committed to making Kingsley a school for you to feel proud to send your child to.

We are Kingsley!

Kingsley Village

One of the first things you will notice, if you enter the school via the Reception outside area, is our new Kingsley Village. This is a space for children to role play everyday life in a village, exploring how different shops and transportation work in real life. It is to support children's language and communication needs in a fun and immersive way. But the area is far from finished, so watch this space as more areas are created. I know how attractive it all looks to little eyes but please can I ask parents not to allow their children to play on the equipment before or after school to keep it fresh for Reception.

New Playground Equipment

Over the summer holidays, we extended the playground with flooring that can be used all year round and a fun new climbing frame. This gives us more space for children to enjoy playing safely at playtimes and lunchtime.

Decoration Project

We also had a lot of our classrooms, corridors and the school hall decorated over the summer holidays, along with new flooring throughout the Key Stage 2 building. I hope you'll agree it has really freshened up the school. As children complete work, this will be going up in our wonderful displays, which I hope you enjoy looking at when you visit for Parents Evenings after half-term, in November (see the Dates for the Diary section below).

New Reception

Every year I am impressed by how quickly our new children settle in Reception and this year has been no different. I think some parents are a little apprehensive about their child starting full time from day one, but our decision to do this is always proved right, as by the end of the first week it is like the children have been here for months already!

Year 5 Sculptures

Year 5 made sculptures out of everyday objects in art this afternoon!🪑⚽️📚

This is our ‘Everyday Amazing’!

I particularly like the fact that this sculpture is enjoying reading a book - very Kingsley!

Year 4 Science

In Science, Year 4 have been learning all about teeth and conducted an experiment to see the effects different liquids have on the enamel on our teeth and the importance of brushing twice a day. How egg-citing!
