Summer 2 Newsletter

{item_alt_tag}

Hi,

I genuinely can not believe that I am writing my final newsletter of the year. It's absolutely flown by! Every term is busy but the Summer term has its own particular energy as we all try to cram in end of year tests, report writing, sports days, days out and trying to keep cool in an English school built to hold the heat in the colder months. It's been a challenge but as always the pupils and staff have accepted it and flourished. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents who have supported our school this year in the many, many ways in which you do. Together - we are Kingsley!

New Classes

It was lovely to see children spending the morning getting to know their new teacher for next year. If you would like to meet your child's new teacher they will be available after school for parents and carers to drop in and have a chat on Monday 14th July.

Here are their new teachers from September:

Year 6 Miss Newitt- 5SdS
Year 6 Miss Doughty & Mr Stuckey - 5AB
Year 5 - Miss Brown - 4LL
Year 5 Miss Littlewood - 4CM
Year 4 Mrs Moore - 3AN
Year 4 Ms DeSade - 3HD
Year 3 Miss Summers-Newton - 2SF
Year 3 Miss Driscoll & Mrs D'Alessio - 2AB

The Reception and Year 1 classes will be mixed next year and their teachers will be:

Reception - Mrs Goodridge & Miss Scutchings
Year 1 - Mrs Clayton, Mrs Carass & Mrs Paterson
Year 2 - Mrs Foote & Miss Betournay

Staffing Update

The name of our new Year 3 teacher may sound familiar to a lot of you. That is because she is Maisie Summers-Newton, a former British Paralympic double gold medal winner, who still holds the S6 100m Breaststroke world record! As well as being a multiple British and European champion, in 2018 she was nominated for the BBC's Young Sports Personality of the Year and in 2022 she received a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) from Anne, the Princess Royal, at Buckingham Palace. To top it all off, she has even appeared as a character in the Beano, alongside Emma Radacanu!

I hope you will join me in wishing her every success as she starts her toughest challenge to date - being a teacher! Good luck Maisie.

End of Year Report

On Friday 18th July, your child's end-of-year report will be sent home with them (don't worry, it will be a bit more up to date than the one pictured).

If you have requested to take your child's books too, they will go home on Friday too.

Year 6 Production

On Wednesday 16th July, Year 6 will perform Oliver the Musical, at 2pm and then at 5pm.

You are not required to get a ticket but please let Mr Stuckey or Miss Doughty know if you plan to come so we have a rough idea how many people are coming.

I have seen and heard the children (and staff) working so hard to make this a show to remember, so I do hope you can come and support them for what promises to be a very special performance.

Talent Show

On Monday 21st July we will host our annual Talent Show. If your child is taking part, you will already have been notified. Only parents/carers of children who are performing have been invited to attend due to the size of our school hall, as children will also be watching and cheering their friends on. Good luck to everyone who has entered. I can't wait to watch what will surely be a hugely entertaining afternoon.

Sports Days

Thank you to all parents and carers who came to support our sports days this year. A special thank you to Miss Driscoll and Miss Brown for organising such brilliant events and to all the staff for helping out. Even the weather was kind to us this year - not too hot and not a drop of rain. A fantastic achievement!

Year 6 Enterprise Day

Thank you to everyone, pupils and staff, in Year 6 for putting on a fantastic Enterprise Day today. We raised over £1500 - the most I have ever known! This money goes towards treating our Year 6 pupils to a day out at Drayton Manor theme park, Leavers' Hoodies and other end-of-school treats. Who knows, it might inspire the next Alan Sugar too!

Year 1 Twycross Zoo Visit

Year 1 had a great time visiting Twycross Zoo and seeing a huge array of different animals from around the world, including: gorillas, chimps, tigers and rhinos. However, most children told me that the penguins were their favourites.

Reception Visit Fineshade Woods

Reception thoroughly enjoyed exploring the forest and learning outside of the classroom. The cool, shady forest was probably the best place to be on a warm day and it has been lovely listening to all of the children telling me about their own particular highlights.
