Spring 1 Newsletter 2025

{item_alt_tag}

Hi,

As we move into February, I'm sure that for many of us our New Year resolutions are a distant memory (a huge respect to those who are still going strong with theirs). One of my New Year's resolutions was to bring our newsletter a bit more up to date, so I hope you like it. All being well, you will find this format easier to read on a mobile, as I assume this is how most of us read the school newsletter nowadays.

We have had a great start to 2025 so far at Kingsley. The children and staff never fail to impress me with their hard work and dedication. Long may it continue!

Our pupils really enjoy collecting our Values and Dojo badges. It's probably the most common conversation I have with children, coming up to me and telling me how many dojo points they have. I love it! Now they can collect a very special badge - the Pupil Champion badge.

New Badge Alert!

{item_alt_tag}

The Pupil Champion badge will be awarded if your child does something above and beyond in school or the local community. Perhaps as a Rainbow or Beaver they have made a difference. Raised money for a good cause or helped an elderly relative. Whatever it is, we would love to hear about your child's success as a pupil champion and reward them with this new badge.

Eco Classroom

We are very excited to share our brand new Eco Classroom with you. It is big enough to fit a whole class in and will be a space that will be used to teach children how renewable energy is made, through our new wind turbine and solar panel, and how this clean energy is converted into electricity for us to use.

Over the next term, all children will be given the opportunity to visit, so please ask them what they think of our exciting new space. This expands our school's eco-zone, alongside our den building and forest school area.

We are Kingsley!

Year 6 Visit to University

{item_alt_tag}

Year 6 had a great day at the University of Northampton on Thursday 23rd January. The children learnt all about Uni life and got to experience a selection of courses that the University offer. Looks like they had to really use their brains for this one!

Sporting Experiences

A group of Year 6's visited Benham Sports Centre to take part in a Boccia tournament. For those who don't know, Boccia is an inclusive version of seated bowling. They all had fun learning a new sport and competing against other local schools.

As part of the Student Aspiration Squad, and our school membership to the Northamptonshire Sports Partnership, a group of our Year 5's visited the Pinnacle Climbing Centre. They conquered their fears and learnt some new skills in the process. Staff were very impressed at how quickly they took to rock climbing. It looks like they had a great time hanging around!

We've got lots more sporting opportunities for pupils across the whole school coming up, so watch this space for more sporting success at Kingsley.

Maths Whizz Parents Workshop

On Wednesday 22nd January, we welcomed a representative from Maths Whizz to the school. We have been using Maths Whizz in school and for setting homework for a while now and it was great to see so many parents coming along to see how to best use this brilliant resource. Thank you if you attended.

Year 4 Notivate

{item_alt_tag}

A few weeks ago our Year 4 pupils visited The Stables theatre and recording studio in Milton Keynes to record their own original songs. John, a brilliant musician and producer, had previously visited Kingsley to help write their songs together. They had great fun laying down their tracks and learning about the music industry.

Life Cycles in Year 5

Year 5 have had the pleasure of watching chicks hatch this week. Many of the children got to see them hatching from their shells in real time - what an amazing experience! And if you're wondering what will happen to them, don't fret. A staff member's relative keeps chickens in her back garden in Kingsthorpe, so they will be going to a happy home.
