Summer 1 Newsletter

{item_alt_tag}

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to read my latest newsletter. When you get to the 'Dates for Your Diary' section you'll realise that this is probably the busiest time of year. We have so much going on in school but please don't panic – we'll send you regular reminders on Dojo.

I hope you enjoy reading about what we've been up to at Kingsley.

Science Competition Winners

Over the Easter holidays, Mrs Carass, our Science Lead, set our pupils the challenge of designing a 'Science and Me' poster. We had so many wonderful entries so thank you if you took the time to make a poster. Congratulations to our Key Stage 1 winner - Nate Berry in Year 1 - and our Key Stage 2 winner - Eliza Dallimore-Friary in Year 4. Their winning posters were informative, personal to them and just fantastic.

NMPAT Brass Recital

NMPAT’s Brass Recital Team came to entertain us with their amazing playing and also taught us all about how brass instruments work. It was a very fun and lively assembly, with everyone particularly enjoying hearing music from Star Wars and Toy Story played live.

The Year 5s, who have been taking part in Sound Start (where every child in Year 5 learns a brass or wood wind instrument) were also called up to the front to show the skills they have learnt so far.

School Improvements

Whilst the school was closed to the children over the Easter holidays, we were teeming with people improving our school. All the Key Stage 2 toilets were upgraded, a new climbing wall has been installed in the playground and an exciting sensory pod has been set-up to support our pupils with sensory needs.

Big Sing

There are still tickets available to watch our Year 4's perform at NMPAT and INMAT's Big Sing in the Royal and Derngate on Wednesday 20th May. It's a time when all 13 schools in our academy trust get together for a good old sing song. All are welcome to come and sing along to some animal-themed songs: ranging from crowd-pleasing classics to some new ones. I'm sure it will be a wild night out!

Online Safety Parent Workshop

Thank you to everyone who attended our online safety workshop for parents. Simon Aston, the Online Safety and Wellbeing Officer for West Northamptonshire Council, came along and provided guidance and tips on how to support your child in the ever evolving online world.

School Lunches

If your child has a school lunch, please remember to order on Dolce/School Grid before 8.45am. You can also book ahead.

We have noticed an increasing number of children whose dinners are not been ordered.
This can cause problems in the kitchen and may result in your child not getting their first choice of meal.

We would appreciate your support with this.

Warmer Weather

Now we are having some warmer days please can you make sure your child has a sun hat in school, sun cream applied before school and, if you wish for them to re-apply, a little pot in their bag to put on at lunchtime. Thank you.

Staff Update

I would like to warmly welcome Miss Lennon to our Kingsley team. She will be teaching Mrs Foote's Year 2 class, as Mrs Foote is off on maternity leave. Make sure to give her a warm welcome if you see her around school.
