Attendance

Good attendance (96% or better) is expected at Kingsley Primary School.  If your child is unable to attend due to illness please notify the school office as soon as possible on 01604 713822. The school day starts at 8:45 and finishes at 3:15.

The school does not authorise term time holidays.  From 1st September 2013, the law gives NO entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during term time. Any application for leave must only be in exceptional circumstances and Headteachers would not be expected to class any term-time holiday as exceptional. 

If you take your child out of school for an accumulative total of 5 days or more (10 sessions) over a period of ten weeks, the school will deem this as irregular attendance and will consider a referral to the Local authority for consideration of legal action. This could include:

• A Penalty Notice payable up to £160 fine.
• Prosecution under section 444 (1) Education Act 1996, where if convicted you may be fined up to £1,000.
• Prosecution under section 444 (1) (a) Education Act 1996 where if convicted you may be fined up to £2,500 and/or 3 months’ imprisonment.
