Christmas Craft Morning
Thank you to all those parents who managed to get time off work to come to our Christmas Craft Morning and take some children under their wing. All children had a great time making Santa faces, Christmas cards and tags amongst many other things. A big thank you also goes to our year 5 pupils who came to help children with their making.
The Children enjoyed taking part in their first Nativity at Kingsley although some were a little stage struck on the day. They did really well to remember their lines, cues and where to stand. They worked really hard.
The children had a magical time at the Derngate. You could tell this by just how quiet they were during the performance. They were totally awe struck by the puppets and the story. The smiles on their faces was lovely to see and the excitement of going on a coach too all added to their fun. The children were complimented on their behaviour by the Derngate staff who couldn’t get over how polite and well behaved they were throughout the time they were there.
Reception Miss Gallone
This Term our topic is Light and Dark. The children have been learning about nocturnal animals and space. So far we have made a list of all the things we would like to take to the moon; having read Whatever Next. This week we are reading 'Owl Babies' and have made a sound scape of all the animals we might hear at night and we have done some thought tracking on how the baby owls must have felt when they woke up to find their mother was gone. We have been learning words like trembling, tearful and shaking with fear. We have also been having lots of fun in our Home Corner that's now a rocket.
The children have been making fantastic progress with their reading so far in reception. It is so great to see all your comments in their reading records about their reading at home. Please fill in the reading record as often as you can and check it often to see the teacher comments from reading in school. Don't forget to date the reading tree each time you read at home! When your child has three reading tree certificates they will receive a book of their choice as a reward for their excellent reading at home!
We have made a start on learning our phase 3 sounds, this week we will begin to learn Diagraphs (two sounds that make one sound) such as ch & sh. The sounds we will be learning will be in the window this week. If you have any questions about what else you can do to help with Phonics at home then please don't hesitate to ask.

Father's Day Breakfast
The children did grand job of singing to their parents and were so well behaved. Thank you for all those who managed to make it. A big thank you to the Year 6 children who came and sat with those whose parents were unable to come. I know the children really enjoyed it as some asked if we could do it everyday.
Father's Day Reminder

Bug Man Visit
The children had a fabulous time with the bug man. They got to touch various creatures. All children were so brave and well behaved. They asked sensible questions to find out about what they ate and where they lived. As a treat the bug man brought along his Meerkat called Britney. He was very cute and stole the show. This was an introduction to this term's topic 'It's a Bug's Life.'
Our Teddy Bear Picnic was lots of fun. It was a nice hot day so we had some lollies to keep us cool.
As part of our pledges, next Tuesday we are having a Picnic at the school during our afternoon. Please can the children bring a teddy along to join us on our Picnic!
